My name is Dayakar Dasi Reddy. I was born and raised in Hyderabad, India.I have two brothers and two adopted sisters. I learned from my conservative upbringing the importance of family and public service.
I have been married for 26 years, and have two children. My son graduated from Rowan University with a degree in computers and networking. My daughter is a Junior at Wylie High School. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in 1992 from Osmania University.
After graduating, I started a Computer Training Center business called Softech Computers. We opened 160 locations within 6 years and provided quality training to 300,000 students across India. 3,000 of those students have come to work in the US with computer programming jobs, 40 with high-paying executive careers.
I also financed and built a Christian Lutheran Church in my hometown, because there was nowhere for local Christians to worship. The church started with 60 people in a small building. Today, it's 3 floors with 3,000 members.
I then started a construction company and then expanded my businesses to Singapore, Australia, and later the USA.
I moved to New York in 2007. After a while, I realized that I did not want to raise my family in such a crowded city, so I moved to Abilene at the suggestion of my sister, who owned a hotel here. When I arrived, I liked the city and the people so much I decided to make it my home and raise my family here.
Since moving to Abilene, we have purchased and managed several hotels, in four different states, increased our revenues, and opened a new construction company to build & remodel hotels, retail stores, and houses. We received an award for best construction company in 2019 & 2020.
We also started a new restaurant called Spicy India in 2018. It has been nominated for 2023 Small Business of the Year Award.
I have been running my businesses here for 15 years now. Abilene has been very good to us. I have sold most of my businesses and am semi-retired so now it is time for my to give back to the community of Abilene. I would like to serve for 15 years and then retire completely and enjoy my life with my family.
